Yuan Dynasty Drama The Water Margin and its Early Development of Poetic Structure

Mao-xin CUI

Abstract

In the development history of "The Water Margin" literature, the Yuan Dynasty poetic dramas turned the outer contradiction between "rebellion" and "loyalty" in Past Events of the Xuanhe Perid into Song Jiang's life experiences and character. The dramas expanded the plot and ideological implications creatively and abstracted the philosophical idea of "enforcing justice on behalf of Heaven", which embodied the political and cultural ideals of the lower class in the Yuan Dynasty. They owned a self-organized system in Chinese literature, occupied an important stage in the development of the poetic structure of The Water Margin.
Keywords: Poetic structure, Historical development, Enforcing justice on behalf of Heaven
